SPLASH GUARD | DATSUN | 260Z | 280Z

Replace a missing or damaged factory splash guard (engine splash pan) with Skillard’s durable aluminum replacement for the 1975–1978 Datsun 280Z. CNC cut and formed from 1/8-inch aluminum, it offers substantially more robust construction than the OEM piece while mounting at the factory attachment points.

Available in brushed aluminum or black powder coat, with installation hardware included.

Fitment & compatibility

• Fits 1975–1978 Datsun 280Z models, including 2-seater and 2+2.
• Fitment has not been tested on late-production 260Z models. However, the factory parts catalog lists the same engine splash pan for 260Z models built from September 1974 onward and the 280Z.
• Early 260Z models built through August 1974 require the 240Z version. Our 240Z splash guard is currently in development and is not yet available.
• Replaces the factory splash guard using the original mounting holes.

Installation & modifications

• Remove the existing factory splash guard, if present.
• Install using the factory mounting holes and included hardware.
• No modifications required to mount in factory location.
• Slotted mounting holes accommodate a limited amount of variation in the factory mounting locations. We find this especially helpful considering the years of micro-impacts the frame has likely endured.
• We recommend cleaning the factory mounting threads with an M6 × 1.00 thread chaser or tap before installation. These exposed underbody threads are often dirty, corroded, or rough. Start the new hardware by hand to avoid cross-threading.

Will this fit a 280Z 2+2?

Yes. The splash guard fits both 2-seater and 2+2 models from 1975–1978.

Will this fit a 260Z?

Fitment has not been tested on late-production 260Z models. The factory parts catalog lists the same engine splash pan for 260Z models built from September 1974 onward and the 280Z, but fitment of this splash guard has not been confirmed.

Will it work with an oversized aftermarket sway bar?

The oversized sway-bar clearance cutouts measure 4.3 inches wide × 2.25 inches tall. Compare these dimensions and the product photos with your setup before ordering. Fitment also depends on the sway bar’s shape, position, and mounting arrangement; the opening dimensions alone do not guarantee compatibility.

Do I need to drill or modify the car?

No. The splash guard mounts using the factory holes. We recommend cleaning the existing threads with an M6 × 1.00 thread chaser or tap before installing the included hardware.

Is mounting hardware included?

Yes. One hardware kit is included with each splash guard.
