This is a front aero lip splitter for the S30 chassis! 

It is designed to work with the Type 1 air dam and it ties into the core support and cross member (it has also been used by many of our customers with the Xenon air dam). 

It comes with turnbuckles, brackets and other hardware needed to mount to the existing tow hook and front bumper mounting points on the S30Z. Made with 1/8″ thick aluminum, it serves to increase handling and downforce on the front end of the car. 

The splitter is available in two versions, one that extends about 4-inches out from the lower edge of the front air dam and for a more subtle look, the other version only extends about 2-inches, serving to slice the air just before it hits the front of the car (select the version in the drop down menu). 

Air hitting the front of the car goes up and over, through the engine bay, and down and under the car. The splitter BLOCKS that air from turning downward — that downward moving air hitting the splitter helps add downward force to the front of the car, reducing front end lift and increasing front end traction, and results in LESS air going under the car, which helps with downforce as well. The fact that the splitter extends back almost 3 feet, resulting in a smooth front undercarriage, also helps with the downforce equation (notice that almost all professional high-speed race cars have an underbody that is as smooth as possible and many even run front splitters).

*Chassis mounting points will slightly differ on the 240Z and will also require 2 longer bolts and spacers to attach to the core support that are currently not included.

Skillard 2" splitter for 280z

The 2" splitter was my first (and not my last) purchase from Skillard. I was quite amazed at the quality of the product, and how well it fit. The first time I had the car out, at higher speeds, the car was noticeably more stable, and it also helps to support my Xenon front bumper cover very nicely. Looks are dramatically more aggressive on the front end, even though its just the 2" version. My only gripe was that I did not opt for the powdercoated option (which is an extremely fair price). I had seen another S30 owner's photos of the raw metal splitter and it looked nice, but when I received it, I decided to paint it. My paint job did not last long at all, the first time I had something leak (antifreeze?) it peeled the paint. So I have wrapped it and it's been good ever since... but seriously, just get the black powercoat option!

Since then I've added the Skillard subtle sideskirts, which compliments the front splitter nicely, and yes I did get those in black powdercoat. :)

So good I bought two! (update to my original review)

Recap: I had originally bought the 2inch version to go with the side skirts, rear diffuser and spoiler. The original one got destroyed when I ended up running off the road and it took the brunt of the impact. But because of it, I had nearly no damage to the car itself. The splitter eliminated the damage to the front bumper and minimized damage to the passenger side fender. Although the splitter itself was salvageable, I knew it would be faster/easier to buy a new one...plus I wanted the 4inch version (figured it would compliment the sides better).

With the new 4inch style installed, the care looks much better/balanced along side everything else. I would love to see a newer version of this splitter that would extend further out to the sides (wide version?) which would extend out about an additional 2-3 inches to match where the side skirts sit. This is absolutely a strong piece that I would without a doubt replace again if anything happened to my current one. 10/10!

Great product

I’ve had this installed for a couple years now. All of their parts are shipped well with all of the hardware needed for installation. It fits perfectly under my MSA front dam and really seals off the front of my Z. I like that the majority of their parts have videos you can use to help with installation. The only modification I had to make was for an oversized aluminum radiator I have installed, but that was no big deal and a vehicle specific problem. This looks great in brushed aluminum with the matching spoiler. I love Skillard products.
