Skillard's aluminum battery hold down for the S30 is designed for those that want to retain an OEM look but also want a better solution than the actual OEM battery hold down.
If your hold down is original, it's probably pretty rusty.
The Skillard S30 Battery Hold Down mimics the size and fitment of the OEM hold down, but ours is aluminum so it won't rust!
NOTE: This hold down is designed to fit the OEM size group 24 battery. The positive terminal inboard option should fit group 24F.
Even though new OEM hold downs are still available, they have pretty clunky looking corners with tabs spot welded all over the place. The OEM version is also steel which will rust again.
Our solution cleans up the corners with a slight design improvement and precision TIG welding. We also include a stainless loop that the j-bolt mounts through (j-bolt not included) as well as stainless steel hardware to attach the loop and rear mounting tab to the hold down.
The Skillard S30 Battery Hold Down also comes with flush-mount threaded inserts to secure the provided stainless loop, and rear mounting tab. Please note, when installing the stainless loop and rear mounting tab, there IS a front and a back of the hold down itself, and the threaded inserts are not orientated exactly the same on both sides. If you find that either the stainless loop, or rear mounting tab, is difficult to align with the threaded inserts, please try installing on the other side.
A few great improvements in this design mean that it's lighter than the OEM version, it won't rust, and it has the above-mentioned clean TIG welded corners.
Available in raw aluminum or a durable black powder coated finish.
NOTE: Due to customer request and feedback, we also offer a reversed set up. This is still the size and shape of the OEM hold down, but with the cut out oriented so that the positive terminal can be inboard. If your battery terminals are swapped, as compared to the factory battery set up, and your positive terminal is on the inboard side, select the "Positive Terminal Inboard" option in the drop down menu.

Quality build.
The hold-down is great. The quality is excellent and the powder coat finish looks great.
It would have been helpful to know the frame size or the battery it was designed for before ordering. Some vendors specify a Group 24 battery. I have a Group 35 battery in my 240Z. The frame is wider than the battery but fits front to back and still holds the battery in place. My positive terminal is on the outside (away from the engine).
The only issue I had was expanding one of the holes on the stainless loop to align with the bracket threaded holes.
The hold down is great except the firewall hold down plate was 2” to short. I had to fabricate a plate to put over it

We took a look at the photo you included, and it looks like your battery is about 2' shorter than the OEM battery. Although we designed the hold down for the OEM battery size, it's great to see that you were not discouraged by your smaller battery and developed a solution!
