Skillard’s S30 Hood Strut Kit adds gas-strut hood assistance to the 1970–1978 Datsun 240Z, 260Z, and 280Z.

Remove the factory torsion bar setup for a cleaner look and more space behind the grill. The kit frees up room for intercooler placement and reduces obstructions in the airflow path while providing hood assistance through two gas struts.

Choose the kit for your Datsun

  • 240Z: 1970–1973 Datsun 240Z.
  • 260Z/280Z: 1974–1978 Datsun 260Z and 280Z, including 2+2 models.

Both versions include black powder-coated mounting brackets and tumbled raw aluminum backing plates. Select the correct model-specific kit when ordering.

Installation requirements

Installation requires drilling, removal of the factory torsion bar setup, and removal of one hood hinge pin from each hood hinge.

Will this kit work with a fiberglass or carbon-fiber hood?

The included struts are intended for factory steel hoods. If you have a fiberglass, carbon-fiber, or other composite hood, email sales@skillard.com before ordering to inquire about softer struts.

Does the 260Z/280Z kit fit a 2+2?

Yes. The 1974–1978 260Z/280Z version fits both two-seat and 2+2 models.
